Satellite-Based Sustainability Data: A New Frontier

Join me for a virtual panel on Monday, October 17th to explore ways satellite-based data are transforming sustainability measurement and efforts to address the climate crisis. London-based Z/Yen Group CEO Mike Wardle, publisher of the Global Green Finance Index, will moderate the event as part of their Financial Services Club series. You can RSVP for the event by clicking here.

Research by Philippe Ciais of the Laboratoire Sciences du Climat et de l’Environnement found significant gaps between the “world of reporting and the real world of emissions.” These estimates suggest that global emissions each year are being underreported by an amount between the annual emissions of the United States and China (that’s a lot).

A majority of this gap is due to how countries account for emissions from land, something that satellite-based data (and tighter reporting standards) could help rectify. Satellites also can monitor emissions in real-time linked to industrial sectors, often enhanced by artificial intelligence. Join us for this exciting discussion by clicking here.
